Week Eight {Days One thru Five} ...

Life is crazy busy right now in our little household! Things are moving fast with the house and Nick is busy working full time and then working on the house at night and on the weekends {and being full time dad when he is home!}. The boys are growing and changing every day and I have been busy soaking them up and preparing to start another great school year teaching my first and second graders {School starts Tuesday! These last five months flew by!}.

This past week we had our electric and plumbing inspections and passed them both! They also got all the windows in, the basement glass doors installed, the entire porch framed {the floor still needs to be laid and the shingles put on} and the concrete in our garage poured! Nick also air sealed the entire house and as I write this he is there putting in our insulation with my father in law {I love having a handy husband who knows how to do all of this stuff!}.

I know in the pictures lately the house hasn't really seemed to change that much. It's hard to really capture everything that has been happening the last few weeks {electric, plumbing, air sealing, insulation and so on} in pictures. But, this coming week it will be changing a lot because... the dry wall is being installed! I am so, so excited for this!

Here are a few pictures from this past week ...

The porch!

Cement poured in the garage!

All the windows in!

Side shot of porch and house.

Basement walk-out doors.

Hurray for windows!

Week Six {Days One & Two} ...

It's hard to believe we are already at week six in the building process. As with every new and exciting thing, time has seemed to both go by so fast, and so slow. I find that with each day the house looks more and more like a house, our home, and I am getting more and more eager to be living there. We are about half way there, and I can't wait!

This week they started all of our electrical work. I hadn't ever seen how they do this {even with all of the job sites I have visited} and I thought it was really interesting. However, it's very hard to photograph! So, I did my best. The second shot above is one of the kitchen windows, the main one that will be over the sink.

They built our basement stairs, which I was very excited about!

They also got all the walls framed upstairs. This picture is of the landing/nook right at the top of the stairs. Eventually we will put a window seat/bookcases here.

Looking into the doorway/hallway of our master bedroom. This first door inside is Nick's office, next to that is our closest framed, and then it goes into our bedroom which then also leads into our bathroom. It is so hard to capture just the framing in pictures because it all just kind of runs together. But, I want to remember this for our sake, so bear with me!

Nick's office.

Our closet.

Our bedroom.

Our bathroom.

Laundry room. We had upstairs laundry at our last house and I loved it. It was so nice to not have to haul the laundry down two flights of stairs. I was able to stay on top of the massive laundry that two babies {and two adults!} create much easier this way. So, when we decided to build this was one of my requests: upper level laundry!

Boys bathroom/hallway.

Porter's room {and eventually Weston's room as well once he is out of our room, I think. Still haven't decided if I want them to share a room or not}! When we walked into it for the first time and I told him, "This is your room!" he got a huge smile on his face and said, "Hurray!" He is so excited about his house, it's really cute.

They finished the roof/shingles on the back of the house!

This is the largest fieldstone they found when excavating our land. I love it. I am still currently trying to figure out something wonderful to do with it.

Porter has some of his {that used to be Nick's!} big trucks that he keeps out on the property to play with when we are there. He loves this.

Happy Baby hanging out in {our soon to be} mudroom.

For some reason this one came up last... this is the other view from the landing looking the other way. You see the boy's bedroom and guest bedroom.

Week Five {Days One thru Five} ...

What a week we have had in our household! My sister, brother-in-law and cutest nephew were here visiting from California. We were so happy to have them here. On Tuesday Weston got sick {after we finally got Porter back to 100%} and then I came down with the same stuff. So, I wasn't able to get out to take step by step pictures this week. We did go out there together yesterday and I was able to snap some pictures of the progess this week. I have loved watching everything come together. It's so much fun going out there each time and seeing such huge changes. This coming week is a big one, with lots of exciting things happening, and I can't wait!

The cement cookies for the decking {which is coming soon!}.
Sam sitting on the pile of dirt looking out at the view.

Trusses were set, roof was sheeted with plywood and ice & water shield was put on.

We have tons of HUGE fieldstones that have been dug up during all the excavation. We will use them to bulid our rock walls, and also for our fireplace.

The garage was framed and the plywood was put up. The windows still need to be cut out of the plywood {this week}.

I thought this was a cool shot of the garage trusses.

Our desperate attempt to try and pick out an exterior color for our house. So far? NO luck!

Week Five {Sneak Peek...}

This week as been crazy busy. Between enjoying our family being in town, and taking care of a sick baby {Weston's turn...} we haven't had much time to sit down and breathe {do we ever?!}. Last night my sister, who is a professional wedding photographer in Los Angeles, took our family pictures out on our property. Porter was NOT having it, but I know she still managaed to capture our sweet family and I can't wait to see them. In all the chaos I only mangaged to snap two pictures as we were leaving, so here you go! More to come soon.

Roof is framed, and the garage is going up. Our showers have been delivered {crazy!} and it really, truly, LOOKS LIKE A HOUSE now! So exciting!

Week Four {Day Five & the Weekend} ...

I am having all sorts of issues with blogger. It won't let me update the blog, and once I do it doesn't say it's updated? So, once again, I am way behind! I haven't been out to the house since Sunday {family in town this week}, so these pictures are a little outdated {which is good... means things are moving right along}! We are headed out to the house this evening, with my sister, to have our family pictures taken on our land. So far it's a beautiful day here, and actually pretty cool, so I am hoping it stays that way! Hard to belive we are already in week five. I am getting so anxious for the house to be done, and for us to be in our own home and space again, but I really am enjoying the building process. Here are some pictures from the weekend, updated pictures coming soon!

Roof trusses going up! I believe they finished these yesterday.

Standing in dining room looking into livingroom at window, fireplace, window.

We have our stairs! I was so excited about this!!

View from glass doors in livingroom {going onto the porch/deck}.

Standing in diningroom looking down hallway and into the main enterance.

Main level half bath.

Future pantry {kind of hard to see here... the back framing is also two closets}.

Mudroom! Very excited for this {with a dog, two boys and a husband...!} because we didn't have one at our old house!

Trusses.

Nick got more done on our fence! This will be painted white.
