Week One {Day 5 & the Weekend} ...

On Friday, July 15th our basement walls were poured! I drove out to the property during the day to show one of my girlfriends who hadn't seen it yet {with the boys in tow} and there was four cement trucks there! Porter loved this. It was so cool to see them all at work ... so cool that I didn't get a single picture! I was so mad at myself when I realized that later. It would have been cool to get pictures of all those cement trucks at once. Oh well!

On Saturday Nick headed out after breakfast to cut back some overgrown trees and shrubs along the driveway. The boys and I headed out there a little while later to go play with trucks in the big sand piles. It was blazin' hot though, so we didn't stay too long. I did get a few pictures of the house from an angle I haven't been able to yet because that is where the guys are always working. Later that afternoon we went appliance shopping and picked out our new appliances. This was so much fun, for the whole family! No joke, Porter seriously loved it. I love our new appliances {well... for now, I will get back to you once we actually use them for a while!} and I can't wait to see them all set up and use them!

Today, Sunday, Nick headed back this morning to continue with his project from the day before for just a few hours. Then, we headed to the beach! It was another hot day {in the high 90's} and we had to take advantage of living in such a beautiful place {that is surrounded by water!}.

Now onto week two! More concrete pouring this week, including our basement floor! Some plumbing will get started this week, our first inspections will  happen, and if all goes well we should start some floor framing on Friday {hopefully!}.

Sam was diggin' too!

chubby cheeks. how I love him so.

Sweet boy.

So blessed to call this Home.

Week One { Day Three & Four } ...

On Wednesday, July 13th the cement truck came to pour the footings for our basement walls! This made it seem so real because they were pouring the beginning of our foundation. It was exciting to watch and Porter loved it. I think it was by far his favorite "big machine" so far. We stayed for quite a while watching them work.

 The sky was beautiful that day. I couldn't help but take random pictures of our land.

 Garage!

 Porter was exhausted on the way home and passed out cold. Ha! It was only 6:00! Sweet little face.

 On Thursday, July 14th we didn't go together to the property until almost dark {Nick stops by and checks things out through out the day} because we were out to dinner with Greg and Cookie. Above is our view at dinner. Gorgeous. We had a blast and the food was amazing. After we got done with dinner we stopped by really fast so I could see the progress from the day and snap some pictures. I, however, forgot my camera so these were snapped with my I-Phone!

 They had everything set up to pour the concrete for our walls, which will happen today!

Again, the sky was gorgeous. It was a fabulous night.

Week One {Day Two} ...

On Tuesday, July 12th the excavators dug the foundation to our house! This was slightly ahead of schedule which is great. They dug up tons of field stones {some of them were HUGE} and we spent some time collecting some to potentially use in our fireplace. Porter loved crawling all over the huge dirt piles & Weston slept again! {We seem to always go right during his evening nap, which works out nice!} My mom and step-dad rode out with us to see all the progress, they hadn't been out there since we had started. It made it seem real seeing the big hole in the ground! Our  neighbor's horses were out {they have 8 beautiful horses} and I had fun snapping some pictures of them. I absolutely love horses and am so excited to have 8 living practically in our backyard!

 {Our view!}

 My sweet baby.

Week One {Day One} ...

This is the view that we saw when we drove to our lot on Monday, July 11th... we had a driveway! The excavators had to dig right down the center of a hill that is in the front of or property to start & create our driveway so this was a HUGE difference. Not only did it look so different, but we had a driveway and could officially drive back to where our house was going to be built {we have a very long driveway!}.

 Once we got back to where our house is going to be built we got out to walk around and so Porter could watch the big tractors work! He, of course, loved this. It was so much fun to watch him soak it all up.

 Weston hung out in the shade by the truck. The hum of the tractors driving actually put him to sleep!

 Porter was in his element. He loved running around and watching everything that was going on.

 We have tons of wild strawberries on our land and they smell so, so good!

 Driveway, again, as we are leaving our {future} house.

 This is the view from the road looking towards the driveway.

 Nick putting the sign up at the roadside!

{I need to get my camera lens cleaned, so please ignore the random spots on the pictures!}
