Week Three {Day Three & Four} ...

On Wednesday, July 27th, they started framing our main level walls. I never made it out there that day because it was Porter's birthday and we were celebrating all day, but while I baked Porter's cake Nick took Porter out there for a little while and sent me this picture...

How fun! This is the front of our house. The bump out you see is our entry way/front door.

Back of the house and a view of the walkout part of the basement.

On Thursday they continued framing and got all of the walls up! We ended up going out there that night, with a picnic, and eating dinner with Nick's parents in our future dining room. It was a gorgeous night and we didn't want to leave.

The excavators were also there working that day and filled in and leveled all the dirt behind our house and also in the front. Before there was a big {man made} mound of dirt in the front of our house so that the cement trucks could drive up there and access the house as the needed too. It was hard to envision just what the front of the house was going to look like with all the dirt there so I was really excited when I got out there last night and saw they had moved it all!

Our excavators are great. I couldn't be more pleased with them, and their work.
Nick also got more of our fence done.

We got sandwiches from a local sandwich shop. It was delicious.  Here is Porter and Papa Ed.

 Weston was all smiles, too!

Porter loved running all around the house. Here he is peering out of one of our living room windows.

Week Three {Day One & Two} ...

On Monday they started framing our main level floors and also framing our basement walls! I have to say that this really made it feel real! This is our HOUSE! I am beyond excited.

On Tuesday they continued framing. I stopped by in the middle of the day to check on the progress and they were almost done with the floor. They finished it by the end of the day! I haven't been out there yet today {as I have been spoiling my sweet oldest baby, he is two years old today!} but we will head out there later tonight as a family. I can't wait to see the progress! It's amazing how much difference one day makes.

Yesterday we picked out our toilets, bathtubs/showers, faucets for the bathrooms and kitchen and our kitchen sink. I am SO excited for our kitchen sink {more to come on this later}!

Week Two {Day Three, Four, Five & The Weekend} ...

Last week was a big week in house progress! I suppose that every week will feel like that {hopefully} from here on out. I am going to try not to get so behind with my posting in the coming weeks. There is just too much happening and I get behind so easily when I miss a few days!

On Wednesday they started to frame our walkout basement wall. In this pictures you can see where the sliding glass door will be as well as the window.

This was the first time we were able to actually walk inside the house. Porter loved this and I think it really made him realize exactly what was going on. He is really excited for his new house. It's really, really cute, he talks about it all the time!
On Friday they were finally able to pour the concrete in our basement. This was delayed a few days because it was so hot out {90+ degrees, gross!}.

Nick was still extra cautious of the heat and went and poured water all over the concrete {so it wouldn't crack} on Friday evening and Saturday.

On Saturday we headed out as family to the property. Nick's parents met us out there and while Weston slept we played on the property, and Nick mowed the lawn! We went home around lunch time and then later that day Nick came back out and started building our white farm fence. I was super excited about this!

& here are some pretty shots from last week!

I will be back tomorrow with pictures from today {week three!}. They started framing our floor and walls!

Week Two {Day One & Two} ...

Yesterday there wasn't much done out on the house. They took off the concrete forms from the foundation and  were supposed to do the foundation coating and water proofing as well but because of the rain Nick had to call them off. Our lower level plumbing also got started, which is exciting! This morning, bright and early Nick went out there and put foam along the walkout wall of the basement. This had to be done before our first foundation inspection which was today, and we was passed that with flying colors! Tomorrow will be our first lower level plumbing inspection as well.

I haven't been out to the property since the weekend. It's been super hot & dusty and I haven't wanted to tackle it with both boys. Nick took this picture last night with his phone.

Building a house literally consumes your every thought {well, whatever thoughts I have left outside of my two babies...which let me tell you, on most days isn't much!}. It's very much like when your pregnant, or planning your wedding, and it's ALL you can think about. It's so exciting, I love the anticipation and am so eager, but it's also really overwhelming at the same time. You don't even realize how much goes into building a house until you are doing it...from light fixtures, to plumbing fixtures, to flooring, appliances, interior and exterior paint, doors, windows, fireplaces, siding, shingles, and the list goes on. Not to mention the fact that Nick designed and drew our house plans himself {this was months of work trying to draw the *perfect* house for our growing family} and his company is building it so he is also overseeing the whole project! We have fixed up two houses together and this is so much different. With those we were able to live in them and slowly fix them up as we went. But with building you  have to have it all at once! It's been so fun picking everything out I just hope it all meshes well together and the look that I am envisioning for our new house all comes together. I am not, by any means, a good decorator. It just is NOT something that comes naturally to me so I am really trying this time around {with A LOT of help from my wonderful big sister, who has excellent taste!}. Here is one {very small} new thing I bought for the new house a few weeks back. I loved the colors!

It's sitting out on the island in the kitchen and is a great reminder of what is yet to come!

Week One {Day 5 & the Weekend} ...

On Friday, July 15th our basement walls were poured! I drove out to the property during the day to show one of my girlfriends who hadn't seen it yet {with the boys in tow} and there was four cement trucks there! Porter loved this. It was so cool to see them all at work ... so cool that I didn't get a single picture! I was so mad at myself when I realized that later. It would have been cool to get pictures of all those cement trucks at once. Oh well!

On Saturday Nick headed out after breakfast to cut back some overgrown trees and shrubs along the driveway. The boys and I headed out there a little while later to go play with trucks in the big sand piles. It was blazin' hot though, so we didn't stay too long. I did get a few pictures of the house from an angle I haven't been able to yet because that is where the guys are always working. Later that afternoon we went appliance shopping and picked out our new appliances. This was so much fun, for the whole family! No joke, Porter seriously loved it. I love our new appliances {well... for now, I will get back to you once we actually use them for a while!} and I can't wait to see them all set up and use them!

Today, Sunday, Nick headed back this morning to continue with his project from the day before for just a few hours. Then, we headed to the beach! It was another hot day {in the high 90's} and we had to take advantage of living in such a beautiful place {that is surrounded by water!}.

Now onto week two! More concrete pouring this week, including our basement floor! Some plumbing will get started this week, our first inspections will  happen, and if all goes well we should start some floor framing on Friday {hopefully!}.

Sam was diggin' too!

chubby cheeks. how I love him so.

Sweet boy.

So blessed to call this Home.
